Step Up was created by Cambridge Ahead and Cambridge Area Partnership to enhance and facilitate connections between schools, colleges and employers in order to guide students from education into working life.
Cambridge Ahead is a business and academic member group dedicated to the successful growth of Cambridge and its region in the long term. Their vision is for Cambridge to be the pre-eminent small city in the world. A skilled workforce is essential for growth.
Cambridge Area Partnership is made up of all the state funded secondary schools and sixth-form colleges in and around Cambridge. Their focus is helping students progress through education and into employment.
Together, and with support of the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership and Onespacemedia, they have built Step Up so that schools can access all the resources available to their students locally while enabling business and local enterprises to promote their offer to students.
Step Up is managed by Form the Future CIC, a social enterprise that is changing the way young people learn about and prepare for their future careers. It delivers Signpost2Skills for the Greater Cambridge City Deal. They are addressing the skills shortages affecting many of the region’s businesses and pushing for greater gender diversity, particularly by getting girls into STEM careers. They are supported by Social Incubator East and based at the Future Business Centre in Cambridge.
